| Many
aspects of railroad turntable design are similar to bridge
crane design. ACECO has used its extensive bridge crane
design experience to rebuild ancient steam engine era turntables
into state of the art machines. This has been accomplished
using modern roller bearing wheel and power transmission
technology as well as crane variable frequency drives (VFD)
to provide smoothness of operation and speed control unimagined
when this equipment was built. The use of these modern technologies
has also virtually eliminated routine maintenance as the
roller bearings are lifetime lubricated and the dynamic
braking feature of the VFD's eliminates drive brake wear.
We
have rebuilt turntables for Conrail and Long Island Railroad.
We are available to discuss your application and the
upgrades
necessary, which include structural, mechanical and electrical,
to assure reliable operation. |
